What is a Smoker in Minecraft

The smoker is a utility block that can cook food twice as fast as a furnace, and will not burn out like the furnace.

When first crafted, it will be empty. Right-clicking on the side of the smoker with a piece of food will place it inside.

It can cook all type of meat and fish that are in the game. At the same time it can also cook kelp.

Just like the furnace you will need to add some fuel such as charcoal into the smoker in order for it to actually start cooking your food.

Smokers are not exactly a necessity in order to survive in Minecraft however think of it as an added appliance that can make things more convenient for you.

Knowing how to make a smoker in Minecraft is beneficial since all food cooked through the smoker can't be burned and you can just leave them there until you pick them up.

How to Make a Smoker in Minecraft

Making a smoker in Minecraft is not that hard, you just need to gather some items first which are the pre-requisites.

You will need:

  • 1 furnace
  • 4 wood or logs

Once you have gathered all of these items all you will need to do is follow these super easy steps in order to craft your own nifty smoker.

Step 1: Open your crafting table

The very first step is to open your 3x3 crafting grid found in the inventory. In order to do so, simply press E on PC (or number 2 if you are on mobile).

This will open up the large crafting grid that you need in order to make most of the things in Minecraft.

Step 2: Add items to the crafting grid

Now that you have your 3x3 crafting grid open, it's time to add the items required for this recipe.

You will need to place 1 furnace in the middle box and 4 wood or logs around it like so. It doesn't matter which type of wood or log you use as they all work the same.

If you don't have a furnace, you can make one by placing 8 cobblestones in a square around 1 lava bucket in the crafting grid.
