Terracotta is an orange-colored clay-like material that you can create in Minecraft. It has a variety of uses, such as building walls, floors, and roofs. In this guide, we will show you how to make terracotta in Minecraft.

In Minecraft, hardened clay is one of the many components used to construct stunning buildings. It has the same blast resistance as most other stone blocks in the game, too.

This hardened clay is what we call as Terracotta. When terracotta is colored using dyes, it becomes a duller hue of the dye color rather than a more vibrant one.

Terracotta was first leaked in a screenshot by developer Dinnerbone on April 24th, 2013. It was introduced in the 13w17a update under the name hardened clay, which was promptly incorporated into the game.

Later, the creators offered color options to the hardened clay. It's name would then be changed to Terracotta.

This all took place in the Minecraft 1.12 17w16a update, also known as the World of Color Update. Since then it became a norm to know how to make terracotta in Minecraft.

Today's Minecraft players can choose from a variety of terracotta variants and beautiful creations that mix the block's various hues and tones.

Step 1: Make Clay Blocks

If you have chosen to gather clay blocks rather than clay then you won't need to do this step.

To make clay blocks all you need to do is use a crafting table or your inventory menu and arrange 4 clay together. It will then craft a clay block.

Once you have done it, move the clay blocks to your inventory.

Step 2: Use the Furnace

Open the furnace menu by right clicking on it. Afterwards add fuel to your furnace. You can use coal, charcoal or any wood.

You can then add the blocks of clay in the furnace with the fire burning. This will result in the production of plain Terracotta which is the orange variant.

Now that you know how to make terracotta in Minecraft it's the best time to go all out! Terracotta can also be colored, just like wool, glass, and concrete blocks. It is dyed and left to dry in sets of eight.

You are going to need one dye to color every eight blocks of terracotta. You can dye it by putting the dye in the middle of the crafting table's menu with the remaining spaces filled with the terracotta.

Do know that once you can't re-dye Terracotta.

Step 4: Glazing the Terracotta

The possibilities are endless with terracotta planters. You may not only cook them, but you can also heat-glaze and decorate them afterward to create one of 16 distinct glazed terracotta blocks.

They may be installed separately or grouped into a variety of four-block design types, as seen on Reddit. Please note that plain terracotta cannot be glazed.
