So you are building your farm and suddenly notice that you are missing pumpkins. So how to grow pumpkins in Minecraft you might ask.

Well, there are a few different ways. But before we go into that. Let us first talk about pumpkins and learn more about them and benefits of farming them.

Pumpkins are a block that was added in an update on Minecraft 1.14 for Minecraft Bedrock Edition and for the Java version.

Pumpkins can be found on grass blocks at a light level of 9 or higher with a random chance of spawning. When they grow, they face in a random direction. Anyways, read on to learn the best way on how to grow pumpkins in Minecraft.

What are Pumpkins in Minecraft?

Minecraft Pumpkins are a crop that was added in Minecraft 1.9. They can be found by breaking tall grass and are a renewable resource. Pumpkins are the only food source for ghasts, so you will need them if you plan on hunting these mobs.

Minecraft Pumpkins can also be used to make:

🎃 Pumpkin Pie
🎃 Jack 'o' Lantern
🎃 Pumpkin Seeds
🎃 Pumpkin Stew
🎃 Pumpkin Soup

They may also be utilized to create a pumpkin helmet, which can be worn as a helmet without any actual protective value.

When worn, the mask restricts the player's field of vision to a pattern that resembles the carved face of the jack-o'-lantern. The design does not show in third person viewpoint or via F1 key. It's not just useful but also fun to learn how to grow pumpkins in Minecraft.

When a player with a carved pumpkin looks at an enderman, it does not enrage him. Which is why it might be a good idea to keep a pumpkin helmet when venturing in the End. It also looks pretty nifty for PvP.

How To Grow Pumpkins in Minecraft?

There are a few different ways, but the most common is by using a pumpkin seed. Once you have the pumpkin seed, you need to find a spot where there is plenty of room for the plant to grow. The soil should also be tilled and fertilized before planting.

Once you have found the right spot, simply plant the pumpkin seed and water it. The seed will then germinate and grow into a pumpkin plant. When the pumpkin plant is fully grown, it will start to produce pumpkins.

One way is to plant the pumpkin seed on the dirt and wait until it grows into a pumpkin. Once you have a pumpkin, you can then use an axe to cut it open and get the pumpkin flesh.

You can also place a pumpkin block on the ground and right-click on it with a shovel to harvest it.

When growing pumpkins they only grow facing the player when planted, however, after they are fully grown, they will randomly face any direction.

Why wont my pumpkins grow in Minecraft

Make certain your pumpkin has an open space surrounding the stem on all sides. You'll also want to make sure the block next to the pumpkin stem is dirt, coarse dirt, grass, or farmland. Any other block will not produce any pumpkins.

Pumpkin Growing Pro Tips

  • To grow, a pumpkin must be planted in soil, coarse dirt, farmland, or grass.
  • The pumpkins must have a light level of 10 in order to grow. The light from the torches will be 14 lower than the previous block each way, down to one less than the torch.
  • If you snap the stem off one pumpkin, it is possible to grow an infinite number of pumpkins. You will never have to replace the stem if you break it yourself.
  • The stem only grows faster as a result of the bone meal, not the pumpkin itself.

Why Should You Farm Pumpkins

One of the main reasons why you should consider farming pumpkins in Minecraft is because they are a renewable resource. Pumpkins will continue to grow as long as you have the seeds and the right conditions.

Another reason is that pumpkins can be used to create a variety of different items. These items include pumpkin pie, jack-o-lanterns, and pumpkin soup.

Pumpkins are also a key ingredient in the making of a pumpkin helmet. This helmet can be worn to protect you from endermen and other dangerous mobs.

So, if you are looking for a renewable source of food and protection, then farming pumpkins is a good option.

So all in all, that is how to grow pumpkins in Minecraft.
