What is Pixel Paints 1.15.1 Texture Pack like to play with?
Pixel Paints 1.15.1 Texture Pack is a funny pack to review. It falls under the category of ‘novelty’ pack, I suppose, as I can’t imagine tons of people getting a lot of long term use out of it. Yet, there’s something undeniably charming about it. Plus, I’m always a defender of resource packs that try to do something new in a world where a resource pack for nearly every sort of description can be found at just the click of a button.
To get into the actual visuals themselves, Pixel Paints 1.15.1 Texture Pack presents a very odd set of textures. The game’s look is transformed into a gallery of brush strokes and dollops of paint as each and every texture has been given a new painterly look. The results of this new look range widely in quality. In some instances, the new textures work very well and create a postcard aesthetic that looks very nice in screenshots. At the same time, however, some instances just leave the whole game with this strange muddy look that is fairly unappealing to the eyes.
The pack is also lightweight thanks to its rather faithful approach to the technical aspects of the pack, aligning itself staunchly with Minecraft’s standard texture resolution. So, there’s little chance that the pack’s overwhelming visual style will end up overwhelming your PC. What will happen though is the inevitable fatigue of your eyes, as this pack has a pretty tiring experience when it comes to visuals. Which brings me onto the biggest downside to this pack—the difficulty in recommending it. Clearly a lot of effort has gone into creating this pack, but I can’t see many players getting much use out of it on a long term basis. Although, I’m sure for some specific content like adventure maps, the pack could easily find an appropriate home.
