Let me be frank, New Default+ Texture Pack 1.15 adds a lot of content and it’s probably almost impossible for me to cover all of it in this short review. Oh and by the way, that’s a good thing. This pack is an excellent example of the high quality resource packs that are currently on offer at the current stage in Minecraft’s history.

As mentioned before, the pack adds new details like lighting, which adds a flavour of shaders that usually goes amiss in resource packs, as well as tons of clever new textures that make use of the game’s current content to widen its depth, resulting in new things to discover even for seasoned Minecraft players. Skyboxes also make an appearance, which are crisp and high resolution as well as generally just gorgeous to look at. Though, try not to stare at the sun, as beautiful as it is.

One potential downside is the pack’s reliance on OptiFine to get things to look so good. Although we’ll be the last people in the Minecraft world to complain about using OptiFine, not every player uses the add-on, so it necessitates an extra download and installation for some players.

With that said, there’s very little to dislike about the super high quality resource pack. Full of optimisations and new details for players to enjoy, New Default+ Texture Pack 1.15 is what resource packs should aim to be. Treat yourself by giving it a go, and discover how this resource pack really might just deserve the title as new default. And don’t forget to let us know your thoughts on this pack and what packs we should cover next!
