New Default+ 1.16 Texture Pack is a resource pack for Minecraft’s brand new 1.16 snapshot. While many of you will be familiar with this new standard resource pack, but for you newbies out there, this pack’s goal is to be the new standard Minecraft default pack. But does the creator of this pack do enough to warrant this pack being the next default resource pack for Minecraft? Read on to find out!
What is New Default+ 1.16 Texture Pack?
This pack is focused on tweaking and changing the vanilla Minecraft experience. Improvement is the aim of the game here, but so is maintaining the essence of Minecraft. In this pack you can expect aesthetic upgrades, lightning changes, new textures, performance optimisation and even a brand new skybox! Safe to say there’s a lot hidden away in this little pack, so let’s take a closer look.
Lots of us are feeling the quarantine blues these days. If you can’t help but find yourself bored senseless as the lack of things to do in your usual Minecraft play style, why not shake things up a bit with some new Minecraft content? And what could be a better way to dip you toe into the proverbial water of content with this accessible default pack?
Is New Default+ 1.16 Texture Pack fun to play with?
New Default+ is a pack that succeeds in its goal in adding a total boat load of content without veering too far from the base game’s inherent vision. The pack is bursting with new and interesting tweaks, changes and new additions to the game’s flow and feel. It’s very high quality, and ut;s definitely a pack with a very wide amount of appeal to a wide player demographic.
One of the first things you’ll notice when you boot Minecraft up with this pack is the beautiful blue skybox that covers the entire overworld. It’s a very tasteful choice, and the creator has clearly gone for something more minimal in order to not distract from other parts of the game world. Personally, I think it’s one of the better skyboxes I’ve seen.
A personal favourite aspect of this pack is the finer details. Things like cute illustrations for the crafting table GUI really make the pack feel polished. That said, the pack isn’t totally without its faults, such as its need for OptiFine. While I’ll never tell someone not to download OptiFine, the fact this pack requires it means that you’ll have an extra step in the download process, so it’s something to think about.
What’s good about New Default+ 1.16 Texture Pack?
✔ A boat load of content to seek out and discover
✔ Very high quality and production value
✔ While comprehensive, still very faithful to vanilla Minecraft
What’s not-so-good about New Default+ 1.16 Texture Pack?
X Wouldn’t recommend to those after high resolution packs
X Not the most bombastic pack out there
X Requires OptiFine to run properly
