What is Snowy Log Cabin?

Snowy Log Cabin is a Minecraft map that provides an off the grid experience like no other. Just you and a cabin in an endless icy woodland. A pure wilderness experience for only the most seasoned of survival experts.

What is Snowy Log Cabin like to play?

Have you ever had that fantasy where you’re a survival master like Bear Grylls? Well, maybe like Bear Grylls but without the unusual drinking habits? You know what I mean, isolated living space, little to no food, with only your wits and strength to get you by. This is the kind of experience Snow Log Cabin emulates.

In this map, you’ve got a little wood cabin, and…that’s basically it. There’s a few supplies dotted about in some chests but if you want to get survivin’ then you better get moving fast. The cabin also uses space effectively with multiple areas dedicated for crafting, smelting and storage.

It’s nice to start off with these tools already at your disposal, but it did reduce some of the challenges living in the wintery environment. There is also a room for enchanting, which, to reiterate, got rid of some of the survival elements. What’s more is that this section wasn’t connected to the house and almost felt weirdly unfinished.

The cabin itself is well made and manages to evoke a lot of charm despite only being fairly small. It maintains that claustrophobic feeling you’d expect being stuck in a cabin in the snow. There’s a charming log fire in the centre of the place which keeps you warm after those long chilly excursions for supplies.

The underground sections of the cabin also provide plenty of space so that if you’re playing with a few friends or more, you can all freely do your jobs in the cabin without all developing cabin fever in less than 5 minutes.

There’s not much else to discuss honestly. This map definitely does what it says on the tin. It’s a great and atmospheric map that would be excellent for a cooperative survival romp for Christmas or around winter.

I was hoping for secret easter eggs hidden out in the icy wilderness, but didn’t manage to find anything. There might be something still out there though, and maybe you and a couple of friends could find it.

How do I install Snowy Log Cabin?

Firstly, download Snowy Log Cabin. When it’s downloaded, export the contents of the zip folder with a file extractor. If you want to use this cabin as a centre of a multiplayer playthrough, you’ll need to find the location of you server world files. This will vary depending on the server software that you use. When you’ve done that, just plop the Snowy Log Cabin map in place of the normal world file.
