KDesp’s Better Default 1.15

KDesp’s Better Default 1.15 is a vanilla-focused resource pack for Minecraft 1.15 that doesn’t disappoint. Although its a pack meant to improve upon default Minecraft, there’s a ton of content to sift through. But is KDesp’s effort really better than default? Or is this pack just another failed attempt to improve the classic block building game? Find out in my review and rundown below!

What is KDesp’s Better Default 1.15?

KDesp’s Better Default 1.15 is a vanilla pack that is much unlike many other contemporary vanilla packs. While some vanilla packs keep things strictly simple when it comes to straying from the base game’s original design, KDesp’s Better Default 1.15 introduces a vast amount of content and details that transform the look and feel of the game for the better.

What is KDesp’s Better Default 1.15 like to play with?

I have to say right away that I absolutely love KDesp’s Better Default 1.15. That said, the pack isn’t perfect, but which pack really is?

KDesp’s Better Default 1.15 is the kind of vanilla/default pack that I enjoy. Instead of adding only a handful of new features, the pack extends its reach to cover the entirety of the game’s assets, looking to improve and tweak everything that it can. The pack is full of new regular and 3D models that transform the game’s visuals. I particularly liked the 3D models for bookshelves, which made libraries feel much more immersive than their default counterparts.

There are also many smaller details such as use of OptiFine’s connected textures and other texture retouches such as the improved lanterns and torches that make the game feel much less simple. The result reminds me of the feeling of installing a mod and seeing all of the new custom blocks with 3D models and textures. It’s a great feeling to emulate, especially when installation of resource pack is super simple and only takes a few minutes.

The only real downside to this pack is going to depend on where you fall with personal preference towards resource pack. I fear that players who like super vanilla packs that don’t dare stray too far from the default game experience might feel alienated by the amount of new content seen in this pack. For me though, I love all the new things to explore and look at. I like to keep things faithful to vanilla Minecraft, but this vanilla pack brings enough to the table that installing it is an exciting process.

So that’s it! If you love vanilla Minecraft but would like to spice things up with some new textures and models, then KDesp’s Better Default 1.15 is an excellent choice for you.

How to install KDesp’s Better Default 1.15

KDesp’s Better Default 1.15 is easy to install. If you’ve never installed a pack before, don’t fear. We’ve put together an easy guide for resource pack installation for Minecraft 1.15.

To start, you’ll need to download the zip file for KDesp’s Better Default 1.15. Once it’s done, place the file somewhere you can find it later. Next you need to locate and open the folder for your Minecraft resource packs. One way to do this is to go to the Minecraft main menu and navigate to  ‘options’ then ‘resource packs’ and finally ‘open resource pack folder’. Another way is by going through your computer files using one of the relevant file directories in the table below:

Once the folder is open, place the download inside of it. Now open up Minecraft. Make your way to the resource pack menu and select KDesp’s Better Default 1.15. Using the highlighted buttons, enable KDesp’s Better Default 1.15 as your currently active resource pack.
