Hoovi's Pack 1.15 is a resource pack for Minecraft 1.15 that is highly personalised. And when I say personalised, I mean personalised! With a variety of unusual, unique and even hilarious changes to the game’s default content, there’s a lot to uncover with this idiosyncratic resource pack. So
What is Hoovi's Pack 1.15?
Hoovi's Pack 1.15 isn’t about an allusion to a famous bread brand, nor is it about vacuum cleaners. Hoovi’s Pack is actually really just about the creator, Hoovi. This eponymous figure has curated their own resource pack, filling it with the details and changes they love to see when they sit down to enjoy Minecraft. As to be expected, this pack is very specific, but added together with a few other packs, you might just be able to personalise your Minecraft experience too.
What is Hoovi's Pack 1.15 like to play with?
It’s always a difficult task to review or critique resource packs that are made with a specific person’s preferences in mind. Obviously all packs are made to somebody’s preference, be it art style, colour or genre, but packs like Hoovi's Pack 1.15 are built up from particular details that tickle the creator’s fancy. From the name, I had the suspicion that this pack would be very niche, and after a short time playing with the pack installed, those suspicions were confirmed to be correct.
One of the more noticeable changes made in the pack are the texture swaps, so let’s discuss that first. There’s a few minor additions to the regular set of textures but one of the more noticeable additions can be seen in the game’s ore blocks. In the same vein as many PvP focused resource packs, Hoovi's Pack 1.15 gives ores a thick colour-coordinated outline, letting the blocks stand out even in the darkest of mining expeditions. Changes like these, along with changes like turning the Cat disc into a playable version of Old Town Road, make for a very unique experience.
Unique as it may be, the pack is unfortunately lacking a bit in quality as well as quality control. Although adding Old Town Road into Minecraft is quite funny, it doesn’t really add anything to the game and just comes across like a lazy meme that will be old hat before the next update. I think the pack would really benefit from some further development so that it can find its own feet and begin to offer some unique aspects to its design that will encourage players to use it in their roster of resource packs.
What are the pros of Hoovi's Pack 1.15?
✔ Can be easily combined with other packs to make a bespoke visual experience
✔ Faithful changes to pre-existing textures
✔ Funny and interesting new additions
What are the cons of Hoovi's Pack 1.15?
X Doesn’t really add very much
X Not recommended for players after a big experience
X Lacking in content—needs further development
