Half-life 2 was one of the most famous games in it's day. It is now considered as one of the classics.

But, it did have some problems in gameplay especially with regards to loading screens.

Especially since GTA: San Andreas was already out during that time, and the open world gameplay was starting to make a scene.

For a long time Half-Life 2 was the most popular game in Half-Life series, and they were speculating it to be an open world game.

Many players have been waiting for Half-Life 3, but they have been told there will not be a Half-life 3 by valve.

However recently Half-Life 2 has been completely rebuilt within Minecraft and it's completely playable.

"It took us 5 years to do the project, and it's only gonna get better"

City 17

The entire map of Half-Life 2 is huge! It features miles and miles of areas you can travel to.

When you think about it, it must have taken a very long time to create.

It took a staggering 5 years to do the project, especially since it covers all of the maps in Half-life 2 and not just the main city.

With redstone, the construction of Half-Life 2 has been spectacular, with all of the things that Half-Life 2 had created!

This Minecraft map was made possible with the dedication and commitment of KrEsHDiE.

The name City-17 may imply that it is only concerned with recreating Half-Life 2's famous city.

However, it actually contains even more! It also covers everything from the canals to Ravenholm, the Citadel, the Vault, and even all of Episode One's content.

"It also featured the Borealis which was one of the ships that would have served as the backdrop for either Half-Life 3 or Episode 3, according to a trademark."

According to the creators, the City-17 project began in February 2016, and there is still more to be done.

Half-Life 2's most open-world-like portion, Highway 17, is still in the works. It's on the to-do list for better integration of Valve's inventory garage and other features from Half-Life 3.

"Later this year or early next year, I will complete The Black Mesa Campaign & Episodes 1 and 2."

A recent update brings the highway to just 20% completion.

However as it is, there’s a gigantic map which you can already explore and scavenge.

Future updates are promised as the team behind it is still very active.

Time will come when you will be able to have PvP action within the world of Half-Life 2.

Half-Life 2

Valve's first-person shooter title, Half-Life 2, was released in 2004.

It's like the first Half-Life, combining action, riddles, and storytelling in a way that builds on the original. It has vehicles and physics-based gameplay, among other things.

After a long period of unrest, the Combine conquers Earth in 2033 and enslaves humanity. In an attempt to free mankind, Gordon Freeman joins the resistance movement called "The Resistance."

The original Half-Life, like its sequel, is a single-player first-person shooter in which players assume the role of Gordon Freeman.

"Although not actually open-world there was a survival system where you can explore and find new equipment and regions. Because of that many optional areas can be missed or avoided."

It's a longer, richer story and takes place in the Black Mesa Research Facility where Gordon Freeman is sent to investigate strange occurrences.

It has similar gameplay to Half-Life, including health and weapon systems and periodic physics problems, although with newer Source engine technology and improved visuals.

The player also begins the game with nothing in their inventory, gradually growing their inventory throughout the game as they progress further.

Despite the game's mainly linear nature, much effort was put into making exploration rewarding and interesting.
