FPS Boost Texture Pack 1.15 – Rodrigo’s Pack 8×8 is a resource pack unlike many others. While some try to boost Minecraft’s texture resolution to unimaginable heights, this actually lowers the game’s resolution in the name of improving FPS and performance. Perfect for players with lower-end computers or who enjoy simple graphics, this pack is certainly a unique choice for current Minecraft. Keep reading to see my review of this performance-focused pack.

What is FPS Boost Texture Pack 1.15 – Rodrigo’s Pack 8×8?

FPS Boost Texture Pack 1.15 – Rodrigo’s Pack 8×8 is a resource pack that is ultimately focused on giving you the best performance it possibly can when it comes to Minecraft. If you find that your old computer or laptop struggles even with the lowest settings, it might be a good time to give this pack a whirl. Though, don’t mistake its performance focus as any disregard for visuals, as this pack utilises a beautifully minimalist art style that blows some higher resolution packs out of the water.

This pack is one that really won me over. Many players might not see the need in a resource pack focused on FPS when their computer can manage just fine, but there’s a lot to be said about the thought processes behind making these sorts of packs. To boost performance, Rodrigo has had to create the best looking textures as possible in an incredibly small canvas space—specifically 8×8 resolution.

Don’t let the 8×8 resolution put you off. Although the tiny resolution (even lower than the default game!) allows the game to run much smoother than it normally would, Rodrigo clearly hasn’t spared any expense at making sure the pack’s textures are beautifully designed. The art style is very similar to various indie games that adopt simple visual styles in lieu of high graphic fidelity, comprising mostly of blocky shapes and flat simple colours. The result is beautiful, and I fell totally in love with it. It was great seeing my usual Minecraft world in such a simple and stylised form, often times leaving me to feel as if I was in a totally different game.

Those who love big bombastic packs with realistic, high resolution textures aren’t really the target demographic for FPS Boost Texture Pack 1.15, though I’d wager many of you would be won over if you gave it a chance. So why not give this pack a go? Not only will you be treated to a nice boost in FPS and overall game performance, but you’ll be given one of the nicest resource pack art styles that I’ve seen in a long time.
