Firewolf 1.15 Compatible is a simple yet high resolution resource pack that is now compatible for Minecraft 1.15. Boasting a 128×128 resolution, this pack combines high resolution and simple design. A perfect choice for players who enjoy Minecraft’s vanilla aesthetic, but would still like a touch of realism. But is it all as good as it sounds? Read on to see my review of this pack and to see what puts the fire in this wolf’s belly.

What is Firewolf 1.15 Compatible?

Firewolf is a popular Minecraft resource pack that takes the sensibilities of Minecraft’s default textures and applies a high resolution coating on top of them. The result is a pack that is incredibly easy on the eyes and is deceptively simple. Look up close at any of these textures and you’ll realise there’s a world of detail hidden away in those clean and minimalist designs.

Firewolf 1.15 Compatible is a very useful pack for one major reason: high resolution packs are often visually crowded. It’s not something I’m afraid to admit. Lots of high resolution packs, though great at what they do, don’t seem to focus on the appeal of their own visuals.

It takes a lot of skin to design well-composed textures at 128x. It’s in this awkward spot between low resolution, where you can stylise your textures to make the most of the limited pixel space, and higher resolution, where you have an endless canvas to work with. 128x resolution however, doesn’t really see the benefits found in the previously mentioned resolution sizes.

But what’s my point? My point is that Firewolf does an excellent job at maintaining a consistent and consistently appealing art style despite using 128x resolution. This is achieved through the pack’s ethos of remaining faithful to Minecraft’s original textures. Looking through the pack’s blocks, you’re not going to see anything that revolutionizes how you see a certain block, but this works to the pack’s advantage as it allows the pack to stick to the basics.

Classic blocks like the crafting bench, wooden planks and the furnace block all look fantastic here. There’s an essence caught in the design of those original textures, and in Firewolf 1.15 Compatible that same essence still shines through. The performance is light and airy and I never felt the game was being bogged or slowed down by the pack’s higher resolution. My gameplay was smooth like butter, pairing perfectly with the pack’s smoothly designed textures.

Perfect for players who love high resolution packs but just can’t allow themselves to disable those great classic Minecraft textures. Boost those vanilla textures with Firewolf 1.15 and discover a world of detail you didn’t realise was possible.
