Fallout 1.15.1 by Charlieropesocks Texture Pack is a resource pack for Minecraft 1.15.1 that, you guessed it, places the grim, apocalyptic world of Fallout right into the middle of Minecraft. Nuka-Cola, Pip-boys and some old-style music abound as you travel the wastelands in block form. But is this pack worthy of the Fallout moniker? Does it bring some exciting post-apocalyptic goodness to the cheery demeanour of Minecraft? Read on to find out!

What is Fallout 1.15.1 by Charlieropesocks Texture Pack?

Fallout 1.15.1 by Charlieropesocks Texture Pack is a pack that changes a variety of the game’s textures to ones that mimic recognisable elements of the Fallout aesthetic. From the humble beginnings of Fallout 1 to the ambitious and adored expansive nature of Fallout: New Vegas, this pack has a ton of pools to draw inspiration from to give you your Fallout fix.

Fallout 1.15.1 by Charlieropesocks Texture Pack initially had me pretty excited. Like many, I’ve played a few of the Fallout games, and like many, I’ve spent tons of hours scavenging, battling and of course singing my way across the wastelands of the iconic game series. But I found that this resource pack was a bit disappointing and couldn’t really offer much of an authentic Fallout experience.

I’d first like to say that there is a decent collection of Fallout-related items in this pack. Some are actually very detailed and make use of items that you don’t typically see considered in packs such as this one. For example, the wither skull has now become a welder’s mask, commonly worn by marauding raiders. This is an awesome little detail and I wish the pack had more of this sort of creativity.

The biggest downside is that the pack doesn’t affect the game’s textures in vast swathes and can definitely be categorised as not providing a visual overhaul. Fallout 1.15.1 by Charlieropesocks Texture Pack could have easily retextured grass blocks to resemble nuke-scorched earth, trees to resemble stripped and skeletal logs as well as changing building materials to appear like cobbled-together resources similar to those found in the Fallout games. Unfortunately this isn’t the case and the pack doesn’t provide such an immersive experience. At the moment the pack seems best designed for Fallout custom content, but it is by no means a go-to pack if you’ve got a case of the uranium fever in Minecraft.
