Dungeon Crawler Map is a dungeon map that is very simple in its design. You start at your hub where you can access amenities like chests and merchant NPCs. From there you’ll be dropped into a randomised dungeon crawl where there’s a ton of chests to loot, but an equal amount of spawners and mobs to get through to get that loot. Sounds fun!
What’s Dungeon Crawler Map – Minecraft Dungeon like?
The joy of this map is the simplicity of how it all works. Spawn in, run to a dungeon, fight, kill, return and level up. It’s pretty basic stuff for a roguelike. The dungeons are stylistically appropriate and like the game design are stripped back in their artistic approach. The hub world is small but practical.
You’ve got access to chests, workbenches and an anvil, as well as two merchants where you can convert your gold bars into currency you can use to trade to buy better gear and upgrades. It’s a very satisfying experience, and this game genre still manages to stand the test of time. I had a fun time running through skirmish after skirmish, leveling up my gear to become an unstoppable killing machine. However, just as soon as the fun began, it almost instantly started to disappear all too soon.
The worst part of this map is clearly the lack of content after the initial stages. Unfortunately, although the dungeons are randomly switched around so the setups and loot are always different, the map is screaming out for a lot more content. There’s only so many times you can run gauntlets through the same dank dungeon areas!
It’d be great if the map had increased variety in dungeon types, or if the map utilised things like bosses and minibosses, as well as more interesting game progression. However, I understand the appeal for this map if you love the genre.
It would’ve been nice to see an expanded hub area. Being confined to such a small space made the map feel even smaller than it does already. A few secrets or unlockable areas would’ve been a great addition and would have expanded the amount of content by nearly double or triple the amount already present.
Ultimately, if you love Minecraft combat and just need a map that gives you enemies to battle in an instant and you want a reward system put in place so you can gear up while you hack and slash, this map will probably be a godsend. Download this bad boy and get looting!
