Automator’s Random RPG – Minecraft Dungeon is a dungeon map that is part custom map and part custom game. This map isn’t like your usual maps that where each and every block is painstakingly placed. Instead, Automator uses random generation—just like regular Minecraft—to produce totally unique and new RPG adventures. Extending the game’s content much further, the pack expands the roster of items, introduces new buildings and even a bespoke quest system.

This pack is absolutely perfect for players who enjoy dungeons, loot and game progression. Hitting the end game in Minecraft can be a tough thing to face, having nothing else to really do with a home you’ve grown so fond of, so anything that can extend the endgame mechanics is a total blessing.

When you start the Random RPG map you’re faced with a series of buttons on a platform suspended high up in the aether. Here you get to choose a number of options, such as your amount of lives for the world you’re going to be playing. There’s also a handy robot voice to tell you how the game works and how to get started once you’re playing in the world.

After selecting your options and a final click of a button, you’re placed into a fresh new Minecraft world. Nothing really seems that extraordinary at first. My world was the usual: wide open fields, trees here and there, nothing to really shout about. You’ll notice that you’ve been given a hotbar’s worth full of supplies, however. It’s here where the game truly begins.

After a quick read of some enchanted books you quickly start to build a town hall and other village buildings, occupied by several villagers. The town hall is like the hub for this game type. Here you can basically access anything you need to get going in the game. I won’t spoil much else, but know that this pack has a shotgun. A shotgun! Do I need to say more? How do I install Automator’s Random RPG – Minecraft Dungeon?

Left you ravenous for RPG action after our review? Keep reading on to see how to get this ingenious Minecraft experience installed.

The Automator download comes in two basic parts: the map and the resource pack. Begin the Automator’s Random RPG download, which will come as a zip file. Open up the download with a file extractor such as Winrar and export the contents to a fresh new folder.

In the folder you exported to there will be various files alongside another zip file named ‘resources’. Move this zip file somewhere and save it for later.

For now, take the new folder you made and name it something like ‘Automator’. Now move it into your Minecraft saves folder. Find the location of the saves folder using the table below:

Now the Automator map will be present in your singleplayer save menu. Lastly, within Minecraft go to options>resource packs>open resource pack and place the ‘resource’ zip file inside of the folder that opens automatically.
