What is AppleSkin 1.16 – Minecraft Mod?

Despite the name conjuring up scenes of frustration and annoyance with an apple skin similar  to the one referred to in the title being stuck in your teeth, AppleSkin 1.16 is actually an incredibly helpful and very beneficial mod pack to have installed. If you’re someone who really enjoys being able to see all your current stats, as well as see which items in the game give the best amount of hunger points (without having to resort to the Minecraft wiki!) then this is definitely a pack you should check out.

Chances are that you’re probably self-isolating or social distancing as you’re reading this mod pack review. It can be a bummer having to stay inside, but what better way to kill time than to spend it checking out dozens of awesome mod packs? Is AppleSkin 1.16 – Minecraft Mod fun to play with?

This pack is just one of those that really goes out of its way to make your life better. In fact, that’s basically the whole reason why it exists. Instead of having to remember, look up online, or simply just guess how much hunger you have/a food item restores, this mod does all of that for you! No more pulling up the Minecraft wiki for you, my friend.

Admittedly, AppleSkin is a fairly simple pack. It only really does a couple of things. But what makes this a great pack is how well it achieves its goals, and how streamlined it makes the whole process for you, the player.

As you all know, doing stuff in Minecraft is hungry work, and you’ll quickly find yourself low on hunger points after doing any kind of activity. This pack takes the uncertainty out of eating in Minecraft, showing you exactly how much a food item will restore in regards to your hunger bar, as well as show you how much of the bar it will fill up. It’s beautifully simple, but its beauty is in that simplicity. I highly recommend this to players of all types. Dig in!

How to install AppleSkin 1.16 – Minecraft Mod

Want some of that sweet, sweet food item info for yourself, do ya? Well my hungry friend you’ve definitely come to the right section of this review, as just below you’ll find my simple guide to Minecraft mod installation. You can use it for AppleSkin, as well as most other mods!

In this guide, I’ll be using Forge to install AppleSkin 1.16. If you don’t have Forge installed and running already, check out my previous Forge guide here. Ensure you download the correct version of Forge and follow the instructions shown through the installer.

Once you have Forge ready and installed, download AppleSkin and extract the .jar file from the zipped folder. 

Now, use the following table to find the file directory for Minecraft that’s relevant to your computer’s OS:

When you’ve found the right file directory, open the folder named ‘mods’ and place the .jar file from earlier into it. To activate the mod, launch Minecraft with the Minecraft Launcher and with your Forge profile selected.
