Sunflawer Shaders 1.14.4 is a very powerful shader pack focused on upgrading Minecraft’s visuals from simple building blocks into full fledged 3D renders. Got your interest? Then keep reading to see our breakdown of this fantastic and flowering shader pack.
What is Sunflawer Shaders 1.14.4?
Sunflawer Shaders 1.14.4 generates triple-A game quality visuals in the simple world of Minecraft. This pack in particular is what you might consider to be a ‘strong’ set of effects, with some aspects rivalling even the best modern game graphics out there today.
What is Sunflawer Shaders 1.14.4 like to play with?
The thing that left the biggest impression on me as a player while using Sunflawer was the water effects. Oh boy, if you’re after some good looking water effects, then Sunflawer needs to be the next pack you dive headfirst into. The waters in this pack are pristine and move realistically and subtly. Contrast this against Minecraft’s default water, which from the game’s creation has remained stationary and lifeless.
To truly experience this pack’s water effects, check out a body of water at sunrise or sunset. The pack’s beautiful lighting effects allow the water to accurately and realistic process lighting reflecting off of the slowly moving water, and the result is just fantastic.
The biggest drawback is that the rest of the pack is, while not bad, it’s not the greatest on offer either. Lighting works just fine in regular scenarios, as does the pack’s other processes and effects. However, when compared to the pack’s super high quality water, the rest can leave you a little underwhelmed.
I was personally most disappointed in the pack’s choice of colour. Often times the colour grading seems way off and I was mostly left thinking that environments looked ugly due to the colours on screen which were often clashing with brightness and contrast of the pack’s visual effects. Because of all of this, the pack probably isn’t going to be your go-to shader pack for day-to-day Minecraft play.
Coupled with the fact the pack isn’t streamlined for a wide array of different computer specs, there’s some limited reach in audience. Accessibility aside though, the pack does what it does well, and there’s definitely no denying that.
Sunflawer Shaders 1.14.4 is a perfect pack for screenshots. If you’ve got any build that features water, do yourself a favour and install this badboy and take some screenshots that put real life photography to shame. And although the pack isn’t really great for general Minecraft play, and probably won’t run on lower-end PCs, the pack still has undeniable quality that makes it the perfect choice for showing off Minecraft custom content.
What’s good about Sunflawer Shaders 1.14.4?
✔ Beautiful effects
✔ Incredibly realistic and impressive water
✔ Very impactful selection of visual effects
What’s not good about Sunflawer Shaders 1.14.4?
X A bit too gaudy for the taste of some people
X Not intended for lower-end PCs setups
X Contrast will be too high for some tastes
How to install Sunflawer Shaders 1.14.4
Sunflawer Shaders isn’t the most performance-friendly shader pack available, so before you get your giddy fingers installing, check the pack’s minimum requirements first to avoid any future disappointment.
All shaders require OptiFine to use them. This is great because OptiFine is a fantastic tool that lets you access shaders but also streamline your Minecraft settings for the best performance possible. To get OptiFine running, download the version that matches your current version of Minecraft and run the installation file. This will create a new profile in the Minecraft Launcher with the name “OptiFine”.
When that’s done, open up Minecraft with the OptiFine profile and located the shaders folder. You can find this by going to options>video>shaders and clicking “Shaders Folder”. A folder will then open up for you. Lastly download Sunflawer Shaders and place the downloaded zip file into the shader pack folder. Then select the shader pack in the Minecraft shader pack setting menu.
