One of the first things you’ll notice when you enter the world of the Redstone Smart House is the reason why it bares redstone in its name. This house is fully kitted with the stuff. To automatic doors, lifts and lighting systems, this is a redstone tinkerer’s dream, and there’s no surprise that the house is enshrined with a giant redstone idol above the house’s front entrance.

This is a ‘smart’ house, so just like a smartphone or smart watch, this house can do almost anything for you with just a click of a button, switch of a lever or step of a pressure plate.

The redstone house has all of your survival needs covered. If you need it, somewhere in the house you’ll find some machine that can provide it. This is probably one of the best and worst parts about the house. You can ultimately find anything you need to survive, but finding it can be the issue.

The house is pretty large and very detailed and it might take you some time to get to grips with the layout of the place. That said though, the dedicated areas for your different needs are fantastic and completely easy to use. Most redstone contraptions simply just need a push of a button and you’ll be satisfied in no time.

I also loved the minor details: the working shower, the outdoor seating, the free range chicken coop, You tend to see a lot of similar styled details across Minecraft maps (we all know the classic stair block with two signs to make a chair) so it’s refreshing to see such a kaleidoscope of new and interesting tiny details in an already fantastically complex map.

The design of the house is modern, but still keeps function in mind. It avoids being pretentious by sticking to a simple layout with a simple two story concept. The look of the house itself is very nice, and block choice has been deliberately done in a way to evoke a modern feel, which is quite a feat in vanilla Minecraft.

How do I install Redstone Smart House?

Once you have downloaded the Redstone Smart House map, use a file extractor such as Winrar to export the contents of the zip file to a chosen directory. When that’s done, you’ll need to move the unzipped folder to the location of your Minecraft saves. You can find this directory through the table below:

Just copy and paste the file into your saves folder and boot up Minecraft. From there all you need to do is select the Redstone Smart House save from the singleplayer save list.
