Is Hinokami Kagura [16x] ANIMATED PVP Pack 1.15.2 fun to play with?

I’ve played with quite a few PVP packs in my time, and I think it’s safe to say that the subgenre that these packs make up is quite homogeneous at this point. By that I mean that a lot of these packs are very similar in how they are designed, which gives them all the same pros and cons. And although Hinokami Kagura [16x] ANIMATED PVP Pack 1.15.2 looks to make a few step forwards for the PVP genre, it does manage to fall into some of the classic pitfalls.

If you’ve played any PVP packs, you’ll know what to expect with Hinokami Kagura [16x] ANIMATED PVP Pack 1.15.2. This pack’s colour scheme focuses around bright blue colours with an equally blue skybox. Although at the time of this review, Optifine isn’t available for 1.15.2, so I couldn’t see the skybox outside of screenshots.

The reason why the word ‘animated’ exists in the pack’s name is due to its use of animated textures. Although I was hoping for a lot more animated textures, the ones that are here are pleasant to look at. They’re simple animations but fit for their purpose in that they don’t distract from anything happening on-screen. Another positive is the pack’s resolution. Keeping things at 16×16 resolution makes sure that the game is running as smoothly as it possibly can, which is obviously a must-have when it comes to the high paced gameplay of PVP matches.

So, if you’re into PVP packs, then Hinokami Kagura [16x] ANIMATED PVP Pack 1.15.2 is a unique enough pack that it warrants checking out. The pack does well to keep things stripped pack enough to have the game run smoothly, while introducing a couple of new tricks to keep things interesting.
