Hafen Texture Pack 1.15 is a resource pack that is cartoony through and through. Safe to say that there’s no attempt to make Minecraft’s graphics realistic here, and why should the pack try to? Minecraft is a simple game at heart and Hafen manages to make full use of the game’s rudimentary design to create beautifully stunning visuals.

Usually when I try out packs to review it’s packs that I haven’t gotten the chance to try for myself or haven’t even heard of. What’s different this time is that Hafen is actually one of my favourite packs, and I always make sure to have it installed whenever I want to drop back into playing with it enabled.

So, what keeps me from deleting Hafen from my ever busy resource pack list? The answer is ultimately quality. Hafen Texture Pack 1.15 oozes quality absolutely everywhere. From the textures to the colour pallete, it’s very clear that the creators of Hafen know what they’re doing. Textures are cartoony, chubby versions of their original selves, in a way that looks simple on the surface but is actually very difficult to pull off effectively.

I think that’s what Hafen really does best to be honest. It manages to pull of a so-called ‘simple’ look so well that you mistakenly assume the textures would be easy to design. Personally, I think that’s a very good sign that a texture pack is doing its job right.

Granted, the colour pallete is a lot different to vanilla Minecraft. Hafen uses a lot more red and orange tones everywhere, so the whole game has this retro RPG vibe that I think melds really well with Minecraft. The same can be said of item and block textures too, which now have much more RPG inspired designs that still manage to pop out on the very colourful backdrop that the pack creates. It’s an excellent pack that does not disappoint. Any negatives are minor in nature and Hafen truly deserves the title as one of the most popular packs out there currently.
