Classic 3D 1.16 16x – Minecraft Texture Pack is one of the coolest resource packs around. We all know that despite Minecraft being a 3D game, some of the textures can look a little…flat. Obviously, with a game composed entirely out of blocks, this is an unfortunate but inevitable side effect. Well no longer! With Classic 3D, you can enjoy a plethora of 3D details that make the game incredibly more detailed while still keeping that classic Minecraft charm.

If you’re reading this around time of publication, then, like me, you’re probably going to be self-isolating for the next couple of months. If you’ve found yourself bored of the same old Minecraft routine, why not spice things up a bit by trying out Classic 3D?

Is Classic 3D 1.16 16x – Minecraft Texture Pack fun to play with?

There are only a few Minecraft resource packs that I would say that make into my own definitive ‘must try’ list, but Classic 3D 1.16 has got to be one of them. With its simple yet effective design, the pack really manages to transform Minecraft’s moment-to-moment gameplay into something that feels far more immersive, special and robust than vanilla Minecraft could ever offer.

The pack is essentially made up of new 3D textures and models that expand upon the default lineup of vanilla textures, giving them new nooks, crannies, holes, shelves and any other type of 3D-creating space you can think of. It’s surprising to see how much of a difference the pack really makes, and how the world of Minecraft only benefits from that jump from 2D to 2.5D. 

The new 3D effects aren’t ostentatious either, in fact they’re actually very subtle in certain areas. Which admittedly, is both a blessing and a curse. I found myself loving each moment where I was scouring every block to see what lovely 3D goodness awaited me. But unfortunately a fair amount of the time, the changes made were so subtle that it was easy enough to miss them

How to install Classic 3D 1.16 16x – Minecraft Texture Pack

Classic 3D is certainly an enticing resource pack to try out. But before you do, make sure that your computer has decent specs, as lower-end computers really might struggle here. Installation is easy, just follow my short tutorial in the paragraph down below and you’ll be playing in the third dimension in no time at all.

First off (obviously) download Classic 3D 1.16 as a zip file. Make sure to keep an eye on the download, as you’ll need the file right away. Next, find and open your Minecraft resource pack folder in the game’s files. Not sure where that is? Go to Minecraft’s main menu screen and go to ‘options’, ‘resource packs’ and then ‘open resource pack folder’. You can also just access the folder at any point by using the file directory below that is relevant to your operating system:

Place the file you downloaded into the now open resource pack folder. To finish, go to Minecraft’s resource pack menu and activate Classic 3D.
