Better Vanilla Buildings 1.15 is a clever little resource pack for Minecraft 1.15 that is based solely on improving the visuals of building creation in vanilla Minecraft. Through ingenious resource pack design, this pack makes a lot of impact with just some small changes to Minecraft’s default textures. What is Better Vanilla Buildings 1.15?

Better Vanilla Buildings 1.15 is a pack that makes clever use of OptiFine’s stylistically-impressive ‘connected textures’ feature. If you’ve never used OptiFine before, the setting basically allows blocks of certain types to sort of ‘blend’ together. You might have seen this when sometimes packs have grass blocks are covered entirely in grass when placed near grass blocks in certain positions.

What is Better Vanilla Buildings 1.15 like to use?

I love  Better Vanilla Buildings 1.15. It is a love letter to the Minecraft building community it its purest form. There’s so much potential fun and creativity to be had here without having to weigh up your options in installing the right resource pack.  Better Vanilla Buildings 1.15 keeps it simple. You’ve got all the usual textures from the base game, but now you have many more options to add colour and personality, in many more ways than default Minecraft can accomodate for.

It was a blast seeing how different blocks interact with each other differently in this pack. Basically, the pack adds functionality between certain blocks when they are placed next to each other. For instance, if you place a green concrete block on the ground and place oak planks around it, all the blocks’ textures will change to a custom green oak plank block due to the previously mentioned connected textures setting. Pretty clever!

There’s also a few other details sprinkled throughout the pack. For example, leaves look great and are now more three dimensional, and there’s even room for custom-designed armour and weapons.

The only downside, if you can call it one, is that the pack needs OptiFine to function. Without the mod’s connected texture feature, the pack’s main purpose will not work. Obviously, everyone should download OptiFine anyway, but it’s an extra download within the installation process.

If you love building in Minecraft and swear by the vanilla textures, you might just be in luck. This pack is for creative players who are dedicated to the default Minecraft look, and offers more creative options than you can shake a blocky stick at.
