What is Ant Farm Survival 1.19.2?

Ant Farm Survival is a Minecraft survival map that puts you, yes you, in the body of an ant. You spawn inside a glass colony inside what appears to be someone’s room. But you have no shelter, no bed, and more importantly no food. And with your owner not looking to feed you any time soon, you’ll have to use everything you can get your little ant hands-on if you want to stay alive.

What’s it like to play the Ant Farm Survival map?

Ant Farm Survival is one of those special maps that takes a silly idea and makes it into something genuinely entertaining. When you start the map, you begin on the topsoil of an ant colony situated in a giant version of what we can assume is Steve’s house.

There are a few basic materials you can draw from up here, but you’ll soon need to venture to new areas to progress. Many maps take a very horizontal approach to map progression, but not Ant Farm Survival. This map instead sees you digging down to the lower areas of the tank to fight mobs and find new items.

This is a great use of the setting and overall gimmick of the map and allows it to rise above other similarly-themed survival maps. It’s a clever usage of Minecraft’s core mechanics that felt novel in this ant colony setting.

Playing this map solo can be tough at times, but I was never left feeling that the map was unfair. There’s certainly a huge challenge dealing with the denizens of the ant colony (see: silverfish) but in general, the progressions you need to undergo are clear from the get-go.

There are the usual suspects of a single tree, some water pockets here and there and some animals to get a farm going. What was interesting though was the process of getting the animals to safety.

This is a vertically focused map after all, so there are lots of literal pitfalls your piggie and cow friends can tumble down. I’ll admit too, that I had to restart my playthrough after losing multiple mobs down the large drop to the nadir of the colony. May they rest in peace!

Speaking of my playthrough, I played the map solo and managed to get on fine. The more general aspects of Minecraft survival were fairly straightforward, but I did find the enemy mob areas to be very overwhelming, albeit barely manageable.

I think this map would benefit from being played with a few friends by your side to make that enemy skirmishes a bit more manageable. And hey, they do say ants are good team players after all.

How do I play Ant Farm Survival 1.19.2?

The first step is to download the map. Once downloaded to your computer, use a file exporter such as Winrar to export the downloaded file, or simply drag it from the exporter to a place of your choice. Then move the now unzipped folder and move it to the folder where your Minecraft saves are stored. Use the following table to find your directory:

When the map is in your saves folder, just boot up Minecraft and select the map from the single-player list. Make sure you are running Minecraft 1.7.10.

If you want to play Planet Impossible with friends as it’s designed, find out where your server stores its world folder. This is different depending on which client software you use. Simply replace the world folder with the Planet Impossible folder and you’re set.
